Birthday Time Day 3 - 3 new verses of my favorite song

Today is December 3rd, so therefore today is Day 3.

Three New Verses of my favorite Song, "Be Still My Soul".

In the hymn bok #124 Be Still My Soul, has been my favorite song for a very long time, and while at school I told Brandon that and he decided to write 3 new verses to it. Since you can't really read it in the picture I will just put all the verses up.

1. Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2. Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

3. Be still, my soul: The hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Text: Katharina von Schlegel, b. 1697;
trans. by Jane Borthwick, 1813-1897
(Verses Brandon Wilcox wrote)

4. Be still, my soul: Thy rest ye shall obtain
From up on high, His love he'll never feign
His Spirit speaks to calm thy heart and mind
His love you'll find, thru'out your darkest nights
Be still, my soul: thy trials shall make thee great,
Endure them well; eternal blessings claim.

5. Be still, my child: Thy pains are known to Him
Thy trials of faith shall give thee strength for good,
His mercy, love, and sacrifice will win,
Thy comfort sought will soon be understood
Be still, my child; the Lord leaves you not alone,
Turn thee to him and let His love be shown

6. Be still, thy soul: The world cannot save
The way to truth is thru the Savior's way
To know its power is why His life He gave
That we can return to heav'n above someday
Be still, thy soul; thy faith shall keep thee strong
Through His great light which leads us e're along.

  1. That's so sweet love! I enjoyed the little slide-show you built out of several of the photos that we took at various points in our relationship. I can't wait until you get to open all the future days! I love you so much and can't wait to be with you forever!

  2. This is one of my favorite hymns too - and the verses that Brandon wrote are very beautiful. BTW, I'm so glad you are going to be back in the Northwest, and in my ward! I'm looking forward to seeing you.
